SENIOR HIGH EVENTS

Harvest Party

COMPLETED! On the evening of October 8th, youth gathered at the Bucher Farm in Annville to eat, bond, and be in fellowship with each other. They competed in 3-legged races, bobbing for apples, and played trainwreck, a harvest party tradition!   The night ended with a devotional walk where cabinet members discussed the conference theme of being ‘All In’ in faith and to be Going, Glowing, Growing, and Godly.

Retreat

COMPLETED!
January 20-22, 2017 at Camp Swatara
Fearfully & Wonderfully Made

Hello, my name is Jamie Walmer. I am a junior at Donegal High School and I am an active member at the Palmyra Church of the Brethren. My first district retreat was this year. The memories I made and the things I learned make me wish I would have attended the previous retreats. On Friday, the day of arrival, I instantly made new friends. The sessions Eric Landram held were phenomenal. We learned how to differentiate between our true self and our fake self. We learned how society tries to change us and compares us to “good looking” people. In addition to the main sessions, we also had the opportunity to choose two insight sessions. I chose the body image and self-portrait sessions. In the body image session we listened to a model talk about how looks aren’t everything but how society makes it seem that way. In the self-portrait session we painted a head and had a different list of positive traits that we could correlate to paint colors to paint our portrait. In the midst of these amazing sessions we enjoyed harmonious music performed by Mr. and Mrs. McBride. This new experience at the ANE 2017 District Retreat was life changing. It made me realize my self-worth, how unique every individual is, and how beautiful we all are because God created each and every one of us. I’m am so blessed I was able to experience this opportunity, make new friends, and become closer to God. I’m looking forward to attending the district retreat next year.

We are looking for all person and leadership types (visionary, creative…) as we determine the leadership team for our 2017-2018 Youth Cabinet.  We believe youth will enjoy and benefit from their experience on Cabinet!
Applications will be due to the District Office by May 1, 2017 for the 2017-2018 Youth Cabinet.

JUNIOR HIGH EVENTS

Retreat

COMPLETED!  We retreated on October 21-23, 2016 at Camp Swatara.  Sarah Parcell was our insightful speaker and she led sessions on The Least of These and we heard about WHO the least of these are, WHAT can we do about it, and HOW do we accomplish it.  Ryan Arndt was our masterful piano player and song leader.  The Senior High Youth Cabinet was there to lead bag skits and participate in a question and answer session.  We were able to clear some trails and clean windows as a service to Camp. We played lots of games including the popular gaga and 9 square in the air.  We ate great food, had a campfire and had a great time together!

Lock In

More than 70 people attended this event at the Ephrata Rec Center on February 17-18, 2017.  This was a new venue for this event and it worked out very well.  We began the evening with a welcome and devotional time.  Throughout the night there were options of swimming, basketball, floor hockey, volleyball, 9 square in the air, dodgeball, football, table games, pool, ping pong, and movies. In addition there was lots of food and great connection with friends.
